Click the Verify button to verify the security configuration of your protected file. If you are familiar with the use of the password and/or permission screen capture features you will be pleased to know that you can save the password to a secure place and then, just by clicking the “Save” option you can be sure of having the protected file at hand. How to Save Password to a Secure Place Enter a password to a secure location to have the PDF protected. Do Not Open PDF File While Safeguard PDF Is Enabling Open the PDF file and open the Protected folder from the top pane of the toolbar. You may need to double-click the Protected folder to open it. Make sure to uncheck the “Protect my documents” option in the Protect box. Protect your PDF files by selecting the “Protect PDF” option (in the Protect tab). This option will prevent your users from taking a screen grab, taking screenshots or opening the Protected PDF. How to Protect PDF From Screen Grab or Taking Screenshot From the protected PDF, open the Settings' dialog box from the top pane of the toolbar and check the “Protect” option under the “Protect PDF” menu item. How to Protect PDF from Protecting from All Select the “Protect PDF” option in the “Protect PDF” menu item. This will make it impossible for a user to open a PDF (protected or unprotected) file while Protect PDF (in the Protect tab) is enabled. Note: A PDF file with the “Protect” option enabled cannot be opened in the browser, for example, without a protection password. Protect PDF from Protecting from All will turn off the Protect PDF from Protecting option. In other words, a user won't be able to protect any PDF protected by this filter, even if they know the passwords. Protect PDF from All will turn off the “Protect” option. This is an important setting to keep in mind, because in this case the user cannot protect any PDF file protected. To protect a sensitive PDF, use the screen capture method recommended above. Protect PDF from Screenshot: By clicking the “Protect from Screenshot” tab, a user can specify a specific PDF. Then, they can select any particular PDF, to be protected by this filter. To make this work on Windows, the user must have full administrator access. After clicking this tab, a pop-up message appears with a check mark showing that this particular PDF has been verified.
